What is the Orton Gilliingham approach?
Orton Gillingham is not a program. It is an approach where the practitioner utilizes a diagnostic, systematic, explicit approach in reading, writing, and language that can be imperative to meet individuals' needs. OG is structured, yet flexible. It is engaging and active. Students are taught that the English Language is logical.
What is a Diagnostic Prescriptive Lesson?
Lessons are created specifically for the learner based on a battery of informal testing, as well as continuous progress monitoring of what the student needs more practice with. Immediate error correction takes place in every lesson. Lessons follow a predictable format for students. They are systematic and sequential. They are built to be engaging and explicit, utilizing a multisensory approach. Students have many opportunities to simultaneously incorporate visual, auditory, tactile and kinestheiic input.
